Linnea Ryshke Book Events

Linnea Ryshke, author of Afield, was recently part of two events with Sangamithra Iyer, author of Governing Bodies: A Memoir, A Confluence, A Watershed and Mia MacDonald, Executive Director of Brighter Green.

The first was on September 22nd at Afterword Bookshop and focused on the role of creative literature in advocating for nonhuman animal life. The two authors discussed their books and conversed about how creative literature navigates the possibilities and other limitations of understanding the lives of other animals, and the ethical imperative towards a more respectful relationship with the more-than-human world.

The second was on September 24th at New York University as part of Climate Week NYC. The authors discussed writing across species lines—how attention, empathy, and story can guide us toward more compassionate ways of being. And they how they grapple with multi-species encounters and futures in an era of climate crisis.
