Burning Rage of a Dying Planet in The New York Times
Bryan Denson, writer for The New York Time, published an article detailing Craig Rosebraugh’s time with the Earth Liberation Front—as well as its legal consequences—and the F.B.I’s many attempts to extract information from him. In 2004, Lantern Books published his book, Burning Rage of a Dying Planet: Speaking for the Earth Liberation Front.
Rosebraugh’s long and complicated journey as an author began with an F.B.I informant’s ploy in February of 2002, and would not come to fruition until two years later, when Lantern Publishing & Media (then called Lantern Books) agreed to publish his story.
The F.B.I. informant, Robert Eringer, “was a pro at getting people to reveal intimate details of their lives in the memoirs he helped them produce. He would reach out to Mr. Rosebraugh and get him to write a book, to tell his story in all of its specifics.” Eringer would then pass on the details to his F.B.I contacts.
On February 23rd, 2003, following the publication of an article detailing Eringer’s role in a covert campaign against a Maryland journalist, Rosebraugh terminated his publishing contract and paid back his advances—unaware that the funds had come from the F.B.I.
