Richard Meagher writes about the high stakes of local elections

Richard Meagher, author of Local Politics Matters wrote an article in Richmond Times-Dispatch called “Richard J. Meagher column: Stakes are high in local elections.”

In this article he discusses the impact that local elections can play and urges people to vote. He also writes about how it can be harder citizens to make informed choices in local elections because of lack of information. Ultimately, “a vote starts you down the path of gathering information about local policy issues; evaluating local officials from mayors to sheriffs to town council members; and, eventually, demanding accountability from your city or county government through political organizing and action.” You can read the full article here.
