Newkirk is president of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), the largest animal rights organization in the world, and founder of all PETA entities in Europe, Asia, the UK and the U.S. Her campaigns to save animals have been featured in The Washington Post and other top newspapers internationally. She has appeared on The Today Show, HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher, Oprah Winfrey Show, Tucker Carlson, and countless others, and has spoken on animal protection from the steps of the Canadian Parliament to the streets of New Delhi, India. She is the author, among other books, of Animalkind: Remarkable Discoveries about Animals and Revolutionary New Ways to Show Them Compassion, Making Kind Choices, One Can Make a Difference, and 250 Vital Things Your Cat Wants You to Know.
